Kansas City, Missouri

Known as “The City of Fountains,” Kansas City’s metro is home to over 2 million residents. Our tradition of jazz, blues, and bbq dates back over 200 years but Kansas City is much more than good music and eateries. Also proud of our business and sports, we are an entrepreneurial center for the midwest while quickly becoming the ‘soccer capital of the nation’ with plans to host the Men’s National Team training facilities. As with most metro areas, Kansas City has a unique opportunity for outreach and social justice both domestically and cross-culturally. Missouri or Kansas? Try both—our city is too cool for just one state.

Vineyard Church of Overland Park

We are about equipping thoroughgoing followers of Jesus who show his kingdom and make him known. Every day we aim to love God, surrender to God, love others, do the works and say the words of Jesus. We want to be a place where every person regardless of age, gender, social class or life experience is loved by the church and is transformed and empowered by God. We have strong community partnerships with our local schools, family agencies, and fellow churches, all with the goal of being a best friend to our community. We love our city and our fellow ‘Kansas Citians.’ We are excited to receive, love and equip kingdom leaders and to share our city with you.

Kansas City Staff

Chaz and Heather Bell

Jesus said that He came so that we may have life and have it to the fullest.  It is the pursuit of this abundant life in Christ that fuels Chaz’s passion for mentoring the next generation of church leaders.  Chaz moved to Kansas City in 2008 to pursue his graduate degree at UMKC.  After marrying Heather in 2009, they both became heavily involved with the Intervarsity chapter on campus, launching Bible studies and training other student leaders in evangelism.  After graduation, Chaz was hired as faculty at UMKC and Heather went on staff with Intervarsity as a campus minister.  Chaz is passionate about creating authentic community where people can create their own stories with God by focusing on spiritual formation, education and providing opportunities to lead.

Chaz and Heather started attending Vineyard Community Church in 2011 and were eager to get involved.  From leading a worship and a small group to serving on the board of elders, God has been uniquely preparing Chaz for mentoring students in Kingdom leadership and ministry. After attending Cause Con 2016, Chaz and Heather felt strongly that God was calling them deeper into ministry.  They enrolled in the Residency + program in January 2017 and will complete the program this December. Heather serves as the Mid-Week Children’s Director at VCC and is launching our Awana’s program this fall.  As the parents of three kids (Melody, Caedmon and Sylas), Chaz and Heather are passionate about training up the next generation to take hold of all that God has for them and never settle for less.
