Duluth, Minnesota

We are home to about 90,000 people in the city and over 250,000 in the metropolitan area. Known for it’s natural beauty sitting at the tip of the largest fresh water lake in the world and at one end of the largest fresh water sand bar. It plays host to a myriad of outdoor competitive sports everything from marathons to sled dog races. There is a lively college scene in Duluth with 3 major Universities all within a couple miles of each other. Duluth is known as the most civicly engaged city in America with one of the highest voter turn outs and volunteer per capita, which leads to an amazing amount of service taking place through non-profits and community events. It’s a lively place to live and serve.

The Vineyard Church - Duluth

Our vision is to be an authentic community of Christians who live out the message of Jesus and the Bible in such a real way that others would experience the love and mercy of God. Our mission is to teach anyone who seriously commits themselves to Jesus how to do everything Jesus said to do (we figure this ought to take us the next couple of years or so). Not only do we long to be a church that impacts the Twin Ports area with this great news about Jesus, we want to establish other church plants that will do the same. We believe that God wants us to create a place where those who are “not-yet-Christians” and those who are Christians without a church home could come to learn about Jesus. We desire to create a place where we can worship God in a laid-back environment with music we like! We also want an atmosphere that is comfortable for people who were not accustomed to “church stuff.” This has created a place where everything we do is in a style that is understandable and meaningful to a younger generation. We are really excited to host HLI and see it walk out that same vision

Jackson Gatlin

As the director of Heroic Leadership Institute Duluth, Jackson Gatlin has a heart to see students develop as leaders and grow as followers of Jesus. Jackson graduated with a degree in graphic design and loves solving the puzzle that a new design project brings. However, with his many years of design experience, he still loves drawing stick figures the best. In his free time, he loves hanging out with his wife, fly fishing, watching movies, going on road trips, and playing video games.
